Coldplay pertama kali menarik perhatianku dengan lagu Yellow. Aku sedang keranjingan film Meteor Garden sama seperti hampir semua anak ABG jaman itu dan aku memutuskan untuk beli kaset Ost. Meteor Garden pakai uang hadiah ulang tahun. Aku masih ingat uang yang berharga itu cuma kubelikan kaset. Kakakku langsung ngomel-ngomel. Maklum, orientasi penggunaan uang-ku saat itu tidak se-dewasa sekarang. Kurasa.
Entah kenapa perasaanku saat mendengarkan lagu Yellow itu seperti bingung.
"Look at the star, look how they shine for you. And all the things you, yeah they were all yellow". Liriknya simpel bahkan terkesan malas mikir. Singkatnya, saat itu aku berpikir coldplay cuma grup band sinting.
Sekian lama aku melupakan coldplay, akhirnya lewat musik di handphone kakakku aku bertemu lagi dengannya. Speed of sound. Pertama dengar langsung cinta. Itulah misteri kehidupanku yang aku sendiri nggak tahu baik atau buruk. Aku suka jatuh cinta pada kesan pertama. Musik, Buku, Baju, Sepatu, Some People, Some Place.
Sedikit-sedikit aku mulai mengumpulkan lagu-lagu coldplay. Ya, band yang dulu kuanggap sinting itu. Clock, Speed of sound, Yellow, Viva la Vida, Fix you.
Aku merasa sebagian lirik itu sangat mengena. Bahkan saat-saat ini.
